Thursday 6th September
Spent the morning cutting the grass at the back and sides of the cottage. Took me a good three hours and a refill of the fuel tank. No ride on here, though it does have a wheel drive which helps propel it along.
Managed to make a few phone calls through Skype, which is much cheaper than using the house phone. It was good to talk to everybody as we feel as though we have been away for a long time.
After lunch we decided to drive into Chatillon to try and find the Super U another large shop outside of the main town (similar to a small K Mart) where we can buy petrol. You just don’t pass many garages so we thought it important we found the place. (Geoff had shown us but we couldn't remember how to get to it.)
Mission accomplished, so we were feeling quite pleased with ourselves as we set off for home deciding to drive another way via Dammarie-sur-Loing,(our nearest local village) a narrow country single track road. Big mistake! as they were repairing the road and big trucks were blocking the way. Nobody seemed to be concerned about this and we had to wait for at least 20 minutes before they let us pass, along with a few other cars that had come up behind us. We will not be using that road again as it looked like they had a long way to go and this was a very long road.
