Woke up to hear Lennard below us laying the tablecloths and putting up the bright yellow parasols on the terrace for the morning breakfast takers. Down we went at 0830. Under Beatrice’s instructions I was going to have to adapt to having croissants or French bread, butter and a choice of various jams. Coffee or tea served in what seemed to be a cereal bowl size cup, no side plate, just a paper napkin to use as a sort of plate and to wipe the jam off my face.
Oh well, but how can they survive without cereal, it seemed that they could as that’s what everyone else was having on the other tables. Not forgetting it was also a strange look you were given when you asked for milk for your coffee!
We were picked up at 11am and went for a walk over the bridges to visit some friends of theirs Phil and Hannah who manage a Hotel Barge Bonne Humeur . Americans fly in for a week and pay US$45.000.00 for the eight cabins for the week. (Check it out)
Then it was back to the house for a complete run down on the stove, watering, the mice problem, the garden, how to start the lawnmower etc, etc, The grass area is extensive so I know what I'll be doing for a few hours every now and again.
We had dinner and then went back to our bed for a good nights rest and lots to think about!
